Where the wild things are...!

... Did you know that the author of Where the Wild Things Are died today?

This is still one of my favourite books.  It was authored by Maurice Sendak in 1963.  It has sold over 19 million copies!!!

For those not in the know.. this book is about Max.

 Max makes "mischief" in a wolf costume one night and as a punishment he is sent to bed without supper.

Max sails to the land of the Wild Things. 

The Wild Things are fearsome-looking monsters, but Max proves to be the fiercest, conquering them by "staring into all their yellow eyes without blinking once"

 and he is made "the king of all wild things", 

dancing with the monsters in a "wild rumpus". 

Despite all the fun... 

... Max  finds himself lonely and homesick 

 and returns home to his bedroom where he finds his supper waiting for him, still hot.  

....Its a bit like appearing in Court!!   

RIP Mr Sendak - your legacy will certainly live on! I bought the book a little while ago to frame and put up .. this has spurned me into action ... stay tuned!
