Cannes, Kylie and Cats

Hasn't it been  a chilly weekend?  The cats are still in Toowoomba and have taken over.    This was Dad's chair!

And this is him trying to read the newspaper last night....
Mum bought this lovely addition for my room from Harolds - isn't it divine?
Back in Brisbane we picked up my new cross trainer from a lovely ebay seller who lived only a few blocks away. Thank goodness I had a handyman to carry it up the stairs and put it together!!
I bunkered down last night with a champagne and some magazines as a reward.  These are my usual subscriptions.  Nicole Kidman looks amazing in the Bazaar this month.

I thought Nicole Kidman looked great at Cannes this month.  I love the way Keith is holding her clutch!  I wish he would get a hair cut and take a shave!
Other's did not look so good (see Kylie below).  There's a great gallery at
 (http://www.harpersbazaar.com.au/celebrity/the-2012-cannes-film-festival-red-carpet.htm?index=6#gallery-container).  I don't like Kylie's number.

Despite the above - I am a huge Kylie fan.  On the whole her outfits are fabulous.  You can follow her look at (http://www.kylie.com/fashion/)

Her new release is out (www.kylie.com).  I am very excited that the clip features the official car of this blog!

Its great to see that Kylie is still looking fit - I bet she has a cross trainer at home too!
I've also keenly been following the "Fashionists Facebooks Posts".  The Fashionista is responsible for an email out of events and sales.  It is definitely worth signing up to!

And straight from their post ... "hold on to your macarons ladies, LadurĂ©e is coming to Australia, opening in Sydney this year"

Is this the perfect office?  Apparently it's in a hotel in Italy.
How did you fair with the State of Origin?  The cats are from NSW I think they were disappointed.  I certainly wasn't!

I watched Puss in Boots this week.  It was fabulous!!

Hosakowa, my favourite restaurant,  has kept me very happy this week....here's a sample

marinated octopus, fish roe and salmon and tempura prawn ... Hosakowa is worth a blog post of its own ...stay tuned.

BTW have you got a spare $500K?  Here's an article on Jessica Foy (we went to school together and have recently been re acquainted at the 911 launch)

Here is some lovely eye candy straight from the auction...!

PS I miss you Mr B!!

Hope your teeth are looking good:)

I hope you have a fabulous week

A glamorous affair

I am one week behind ...to be rectified asap!!
Last weekend started with a Friday meeting at one of my favourite haunts in Brisbane "Bella Epoque Patisserie"  meaning Beautiful Era

I had a fabulous chai tea with a pistacchio macaroon - my favourite...

Saturday I had lunch with Mum at really great Deli in Toowoomba.

Mum spotted a wall of pasta trying to help me find porcini mushrooms!
We found the porcini and also this divine pasta.  We are  are going to put it in glass jars in our respective kitchens.

Any suggestions on what sauce to put with it?

Mum and I then  broke the shopping drought at the RM Williams Clearance Centre Clearance Sale

the prices are fabulous and it was so busy (but worth it)

Mum and I had quite a stash - obviously mine's the pile with pink!!!  Mum taught me to shop - I blame her!

It was then time to get ready for the Downs and West Queensland Law Ball.  It was a special event this year to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Association and was held at a historic Toowoomba House "Gabbinbar Homestead".

The dress code was vintage glamour.  I wore a wheels and dollbaby number.

Mum tied the bows for me

Leona Shoes and the bag from where else

Bond, James Bond

This is Gabbinbar by Day.

It was constructed in 1863.
Its beautiful at night....

The couple we came with were dressed beautifully.  Here's a shot of them being greeted on arrival.  Note the lovely coat!

The dining room was decked out to perfection

and the food was fabulous..here's my retro prawn cocktail with brandy sauce

I had the lemon glazed barramundi with mash

The alternate drop was lamp shanks with espagnole with du puy lentils followed by a fabulous cheese platter and the Countdowns (an ancient Tooowoomba rock band - they played at my Formal!!! I must say they are as good as ever!)

the standard of dress this year was exceptional and it looked like a set of "Mad Man".  These photos just don't do the guests justice.

I've been told that I'll be able to access some of the professional shots soon and I will upload asap!

It was a fabulous ball well organised Ms Westall!!  Its going to be hard to top that next year!

PS Mum has just rung and said our photos are in the Toowoomba Chronicle - we are famous (LOL!) - will post photo soon!
